I hope that you enjoy looking through my art.
I live and work by the sea in the beautiful sea-side village of Plimmerton, just north of Wellington New Zealand. My art is strongly influenced by the natural environment that surrounds me, especially the sea and the beach and occasionally the countryside and desert.
I was born and brought up in Chile where art was my favourite subject at school. I even won some prizes! However, as often happens, I didn't pursue my art interest and instead embarked on a more traditional education and career.
Some 15 years ago, I decided to start painting again and I started to improve my technique by attending art classes and courses in NZ, Australia and the UK. While I enjoy working in watercolours and sometimes acrylics, I prefer oils because of the wonderful colours and effects I can achieve and the greater control that they give me. I paint mostly on canvas using artist-quality water-soluble oils which are safer for both the environment and for your health.
